Latin Excellence Programme

In 2022, Future Academies’ Curriculum Centre was chosen by the Department for Education to deliver the national Latin Excellence Programme. Led by Charles Furber, our Centre for Latin Excellence champions the transformative potential that the study of Latin can offer students in the state sector and works with schools to support the sustainable growth of an evidence-led, high-quality Latin curriculum and teaching model.

The Centre aims, specifically, to increase the uptake and attainment of Latin GCSE across the non-selective state sector. It is particularly focused on achieving these aims in regions outside of London, the South East, and the East of England, and with all schools working in disadvantaged contexts.

The Curriculum Centre was established in 2012 by Future Academies. With over a decade of experience in curriculum design, the Curriculum Centre specialises in supporting schools to introduce high-quality and fully resourced curriculum programmes into the classroom in a sustainable and evidence-informed way.
